Results from Mongahn Half-Marathon and The Tj Mc Elmeel Cross Country.

In the half marathon, Yard continued his recent successes winning in a time of 1:11:54. He was followed by fellow carrick aces athlete Raymond Smith in 3rd place. Liam Ryan and Eithne Mc Gorman also had excellent runs and picked up category prices. Full results can be found below.


Later in the after 10 carrick aces juveniles took part in the TJ McElmeel cross country. First up was the boys u9 where Michael Hughes and Henry Hughes had excellent races with Michael finishing 8th an just missing out on a top 6 spot. Next was the girls u9 were Aine Smith took the lead with 150 meters to go and went on to win the race. There was also a top ten finish from Sinead Clarke. In the u11 boy's race, we had three representatives. Diarmuid Flanagan narrowly missed out in a sprint finish to be placed 7th. There was also excellent runs from Conor Flanagan and Eunan Mc Mahon. In the u11 girl's race Maeve Smith lead from the start and finished strongly to hold onto first place. There was a great run put in by Eimear Clarke and Rhyssa Moy who finished in the middle of the field. In the u13 girls Cait Hughes had to move up an age and ran 2km. She rose up to the task finishing strongly in the middle of the field. The last race for our athletes was the boys u15 where Odhran Smith finished a good 6th out of age. It was the first race of the year for a few of our athletes and will count as experience. The next race in the cross country calendar is the county evens on the 13th of October in Scotstown. Further details at training however we hope to have a large contingent of carrick aces athletes at this event.
